There will be a number of options for electricity. First, and foremost, the residents of the nation will eventually have solar panels on their roofs. Any new construction will require a flat roof which will house solar panels on the roof. These panels will generate electricity for the premise, and any excess electricity will be sent to the grid – therefore giving a credit to the customer. If the premise uses more electricity than it generates, then KPW will provide electricity for a reasonable amount. Since electricity will be considered as an essential resource, the electricity rates must be reasonable.
However, it will stand to reason that some buildings will not be able to generate enough electricity for their needs. In this case, KPW will be required to provide electricity for those customers since they are customers. With that in mind, there will be thorium reactors. Thorium reactors are much safer than nuclear reactors and will produce about the same amount of electricity based on the size. There will need to be tight security at these reactors, so the National Guard will be responsible for making sure no unathorized personnel enters. The thorium reactor will be responsible for producing the electricity for the region, and if need be, multiple reactors will be built.
Solar farms while novel ideas are not realistic. They require massive amount of space, and the returns is not as good. This land can be used to produce food which is more important than electricity. With that said, if there is a need for more electricity, and unless the solar farm is in a desert – then it is more likely to have a thorium reactor.
